JOB OVERVIEW

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Line Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in heavy equipment operation and mechanical knowledge, with the ability to perform a variety of tasks related to the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical lines. This role requires attention to detail, safety awareness, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proven experience in heavy equipment operation is essential.
  • Strong electrical knowledge with experience in wiring and troubleshooting preferred.
  • Qualified Red Seal Powerline Technician Trade Certification.
  • High School Graduation
  • Minimum Class 3 or 5 Driver’s License with Air Brakes and a clean Abstract.
  • Experience working up to energized 25kv and deenergized transmissions.
  • Valid First Aid & CPR Training
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions while adhering to safety standards.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team environment.
  • A valid driver’s license is required; additional certifications related to equipment operation are a plus.

Responsibilities
  • Performing skilled tasks in the construction and maintenance of electrical distribution and transmission systems in accordance with standard trade practices.
  • Participate and be engaged in work on high voltage lines in all weathers.
  • Responsible for the safety of the fellow crew and the general public in the area.
  • Trained in truck/trailer operation when pulling and setting poles and performing other winch work such as raising and lowering transformers, when required.
  • Performs all duties of journeyman lineman during emergencies.
  • Prioritize, schedules and assigned work as directed by Foreperson.
  • Coordinates the training of all crews in proper safety methods and procedures.
  • Ensures all paperwork is completed as per the time schedules i.e., time sheets, Incident Prevention Plans and Logbook Checks when required.
  • Ensure you have the correct PPE and workwear.
  • Attends and contributes to the H-Line H&S Meetings.
  • Ensure you are fit for duty, attend work on time at the start of the shift and after breaks/lunch times, reports any issues to Foreman.
  • Assists the Foreperson in the job planning and delivery.
  • Complete a full pre-trip vehicle inspection and report any vehicle issues.
