A PowerShell developer plays a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining automation scripts and solutions using PowerShell, with a strong focus on installation processes and infrastructure management. This involves using PowerShell to streamline IT tasks, manage systems, and automate installations in various environments, including Windows and cloud platforms. capable of writing product deployment installers. Responsibilities Designing and developing PowerShell scripts: Create robust and efficient scripts to automate installation processes, configure systems, and deploy software across diverse environments. Automating system administration tasks: Utilize PowerShell to automate repetitive tasks, manage user accounts, implement group policies, and configure server roles and features. Developing and maintaining PowerShell modules and functions: Create reusable code blocks to standardize and streamline script development and ensure consistency across projects. Automating software deployment: Leverage PowerShell scripts to automate the installation and configuration of software applications, including package management solutions like Chocolatey. Managing data using SQL and Oracle databases: Interact with databases through PowerShell to retrieve, update, and manage data related to installations and system configurations. Implementing email systems and managing file server permissions: Utilize PowerShell to manage email functionalities and control access permissions on file servers. Working with DevOps tools and cloud platforms: Integrate PowerShell scripts into Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines and deploy solutions on cloud platforms like Azure or AWS. Troubleshooting and resolving issues: Provide technical support for engineering escalations and address issues related to PowerShell scripts and automated installations. Creating and maintaining documentation: Document configurations, processes, and security procedures for PowerShell solutions to ensure clarity and maintainability. Essential skills and qualifications Proficiency in PowerShell scripting: Strong command of PowerShell syntax, including cmdlets, objects, the pipeline, and error handling mechanisms. Solid understanding of Windows Server administration: In-depth knowledge of Windows Server operating systems, Active Directory, Group Policy, and IIS. Experience with automation in enterprise environments: Proven ability to design, develop, and implement automation solutions in large-scale IT environments. Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., Microsoft Azure): Experience deploying and managing resources on cloud platforms using PowerShell scripts and relevant cmdlets. Knowledge of DevOps practices: Understanding of CI/CD principles, infrastructure as code, and experience using tools like Azure DevOps or Jenkins for automated deployments. Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills: Ability to analyze complex problems, identify root causes, and develop effective solutions using PowerShell.
