JOB SUMMARY

The Pre-Professional Advising Center (P-PAC) Peer Advisor (Pre-Health) is a leadership position for students who are passionate about supporting their peers in navigating the path to professional school. Peer Advisors are an essential part of the P-PAC team, contributing to all center initiatives, including peer advising, student outreach, workshops, events, and administrative support.
In this role, Peer Advisors serve as a welcoming and knowledgeable resource for students, helping to expand access to pre-professional advising services across campus. Peer Advisors will gain valuable experience in communication, leadership, organization, and advising, while playing an active role in advancing P-PAC’s mission of preparing future healthcare leaders.
This position is available to students eligible for Federal Work-Study as well as those seeking Department-Funded student employment.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0, maintained throughout employment.
  • Undergraduate Sophomore, Junior, or Senior in good academic standing, actively pursuing a health professional track.
  • Passion for assisting peers on their pre-professional journeys
  • Strong multitasking abilities and excellent organizational skills.
  • No campus disciplinary record.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Experience and comfort working with peers from diverse backgrounds.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities
  • Welcome and assist students, faculty, community members, and campus guests with warmth and professionalism, fostering a friendly and approachable environment at the Pre-Professional Advising Center.
  • Assist the P-PAC team with daily operations and center-wide initiatives related to advising, programming, social media communication, student outreach, and other tasks aligned with the goals of the office as we support students on their pre-professional journey.
  • Support students by answering frequently asked advising questions and connecting them with appropriate P-PAC resources.
  • Provide peer support and mentoring to pre-health students as they navigate their pre-health journeys.
  • Assist with the planning, promotion, and facilitation of P-PAC workshops, events, and information sessions.
  • Represent P-PAC at campus events, tabling sessions, and outreach activities to engage and inform the student community.
  • Engage in proactive student outreach through email, phone calls, and social media to share important advising updates and opportunities.
  • Contribute to the development and creation of student resources and content for P-PAC communications, including flyers, newsletters, and social media posts.
  • Perform administrative and clerical tasks, including scheduling appointments, managing office communications, data entry, and maintaining office organization.
  • Participate in trainings and team meetings to develop peer advising skills and stay informed on office policies, initiatives, and resources.
  • Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and a proactive attitude in all responsibilities.
