Formby GP is recruiting! We are looking for a part-time Practice Assistant to work three days a week - Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
Training provided in house as needed.
Formby GP is a CQC-registered private GP clinic based in Freshfield. We offer ethical, independent primary care to patients of all ages. We have been open since January 2023 and have gained a reputation in the local area for offering high-quality care. Our service is delivered by two GPs: Dr Heather Ryan and Dr John Cosgrove. We also offer a growing number of additional services, including a practice nurse, a menopause and coil fitting service, and a visiting consultant cardiologist.
We are looking to recruit a reliable and adaptable Practice Assistant to work alongside our clinicians. This role will include both administrative duties and some basic clinical tasks - full training will be provided in house if necessary. We are a paper free practice, so good IT skills are essential.
This role would be ideal for somebody who is already qualified as a Band 3 Senior Healthcare Assistant.
However, we can adjust the role to suit Band 2 Clinical Support Workers, skills for which we can provide training.

As we are a small team, there will of necessity be an excitingly wide range of duties, which will include:

• Opening up the premises at the start of the day and getting equipment out; and closing up the premises at the end of the day
• Checking stock and equipment throughout the unit
• Managing incoming and outgoing emails; using email and telephone to send reports, make and follow up on referrals; and other basic office duties
• Packaging and posting medication to patients
• Basic administrative tasks such as helping patients to complete registration forms
• Sending letters to GPs and, if needed, hospitals after each appointment.
• Liaising with hospitals as required.
• Liaising with patients via telephone and email and in person
• Greeting patients at the door and bringing them through to the waiting area
• Making refreshments for clinicians and patients
• Answering telephone calls
• Acting as a chaperone for intimate examinations when required (training will be provided)
• Performing the basic duties of a Clinical Support Worker, including checking patients’ physical observations, performing ECGs, and doing phlebotomy - full training will be provided in house if required.
• Performing the duties of a Senior Healthcare Assistant such as administering vaccinations (subject to skills and experience)
• Undertaking on request any other reasonable tasks, subject to skills and available time

We are looking for cover from Tuesday to Thursday, from 9am to 5pm (7.5 hours per day, including a 30 minute unpaid lunch break).
Pay scale £14.40 - £15.96 per hour depending on skills and experience.
Given that the Practice Assistant will need to act as a chaperone for female patients when they are examined by our male GP, we wish to appoint female candidates. This is permitted under the Equality Act 2010.
