Practice Manager – Part-Time (3 Days per Week)
Location: Crosshouse Medical Practice, Ayrshire
Salary: Commensurate with experience
Hours: 3 days per week (flexible working considered)
Crosshouse Medical Practice is seeking a proactive and experienced Practice Manager to lead our friendly and forward-thinking team. This is a part-time role, ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and is committed to delivering high-quality patient care through effective leadership and operational management.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Proven experience in a management or leadership role, within primary care setting
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving ability
  • Sound knowledge of HR processes, and IT systems
  • Ability to manage change, meet deadlines, and work independently
  • Understanding of NHS structures, GP practice contracts, and clinical governance is highly desirable

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE:

As Practice Manager, you will be responsible for the smooth day-to-day running of the practice. You will work closely with the GP Partner and a mix of experienced and recently recruited staff team to ensure the delivery of safe, effective, and patient-focused services. This is a hands-on role requiring strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and a thorough understanding of primary care operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee all aspects of practice governance, administration, HR, enhanced services, IT, premises, complaints and compliance.
  • Ensure the practice meets its contractual and regulatory obligations (NHS, Ayrshire Health Board)
  • Support staff recruitment, training, and development
  • Maintain and improve systems and processes for efficiency and quality improvement
  • Handle patient feedback, complaints, and communications professionally
  • Foster a positive and collaborative team environment
  • Lead and implement governance and quality assurance processes
