Description

Key Roles & ResponsibilitiesSexual Health Services Deliver sexual health consultations in line with national and local guidelines. Provide contraception services, including oral contraceptives, injections, emergency contraception, and fitting/removal of LARC (implants and IUD/IUS). Undertake STI testing, screening, and treatment, including chlamydia, gonorrhoea, syphilis, HIV, and other infections. Provide pregnancy testing, advice, and onward referral as required.
Undertake partner notification in line with best practice guidelines. Promote sexual health awareness and safe sex practices. Liaise with specialist sexual health and GUM services for complex cases. General Practice Nursing Provide treatment room services including wound care, dressings, ECGs, ear irrigation, phlebotomy, and suture removal.
Deliver adult and childhood immunisations and travel vaccinations according to national schedules. Support chronic disease management clinics (e.g., asthma, COPD, diabetes, hypertension) in partnership with the clinical team. Perform cervical screening (if trained and accredited). Undertake NHS Health Checks and other preventative screening programmes.
Provide lifestyle and health promotion advice, including smoking cessation, weight management, and physical activity. Assist in infection prevention and control measures and contribute to CQC compliance. Professional & Governance Maintain clinical competencies in both sexual health and general practice nursing, including LARC provision - Maintaining a register with log of fittings etc. Keep accurate and timely patient records using EMIS Web or equivalent clinical systems.
Work within the NMC Code of Conduct and relevant legislation. Participate in service audits, quality improvement initiatives, and multidisciplinary meetings. Undertake mandatory training and participate in clinical supervision and annual appraisal. Follow safeguarding procedures for children and adults, raising concerns appropriately
