If you are driven by a desire to contribute positively to your community and support foster and kinship carers in their vital roles, we would love to hear from you.  The overall purpose of the Practitioner, Foster & Kinship Care is to recruit, train, assess and support Foster & Kinship carers to meet the individual needs of children and young people in out of home care (OOHC). The Practitioner, Foster & Kinship Care will ensure that a targeted level of support is provided to all care placements, based on identified needs and program type. In High Plus, Intensive or Enhanced Foster Care program models, Practitioners may also provide direct care, therapeutic interventions and coordination of brokerage or other external supports to enhance the effectiveness and stability of Foster & Kinship Care placements.   The Practitioner, Foster & Kinship Care is responsible for assessing strengths and risks within care placements, and ensuring Foster and Kinship Carers develop and sustain the knowledge, skills and resilience to provide safe and supportive care.  Step into a rewarding Fixed full-time role (76 hours per fortnight) until 30th of Sep 2026 based on Eight Mile Plains, supporting families across Brisbane — with competitive pay starting from $51 per hour.     Responsibilities:  * Forge impactful relationships with children and youth of varying ages, applying micro-therapeutic techniques to foster resilience and a deeper understanding of their backgrounds.  * Evaluate the strengths and potential risks in care placements, empowering Foster and Kinship Carers with the essential skills to ensure a safe and nurturing environment.  * Work collaboratively with stakeholders to craft and execute bespoke therapeutic interventions for individuals and carers, considering the unique needs across developmental phases from infancy to 17 years.   Qualifications, Credentials and Other Requirements:  * Degree in Health, Human Services, Behavioural Science, Social Work, Psychology or similar (this is an essential requirement of the role)  * Current National Police Check  * Current Blue Card  * Current Licenced Care Service (LCS)  * Current Drivers Licence  * Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment (desired)  * Ability and willingness to travel within the service region. * Ability and willingness to work outside of standard business hours and provide on-call support as required.     About You  * Experience in engaging with carers through training, recruitment, and support processes. * You have demonstrated ability in assessing complex situations, crafting personalised care strategies, and offering direct in-home support. * You possess a thorough understanding of child protection laws and practices. * Your skill set includes the ability to deliver training and lead support groups effectively. * You are adept at working within child-centric and family-oriented frameworks. * You have a track record of managing detailed documentation efficiently.
