Join the Big Project team of WICONA, a leading brand of Hydro, committed to shaping the future with sustainable and innovative aluminium solutions. We are seeking a Pre-Construction Design Engineer to strengthen our team in the UK.
In this key role, you will be responsible for designing complex project-specific concepts, in different project stages. Focusing on concepts in all pre-construction stages. Supporting the local Project Consultant team with technical support and attending meetings with key stakeholders

Responsibilities

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review the project documents and extract the necessary information
  • Creation of design concepts for project solutions in collaboration with internal technical departments (application technology and project service) taking in to account all requirements from the project documents
  • Knowing the necessary local regulations and consulting the internal colleagues if required
  • Estimating the performance characteristics of the proposed design (acoustic, thermal, special requirements, etc.)
  • Preparation of U-value calculations and static pre-dimensioning (Flixo and Scia)
  • Technical support for Project Consultant and sales colleagues in all technical questions
  • Presenting projects and concepts to international customers and other stakeholders
  • Prepare the data for new articles in the internal database
  • Close contact with suppliers in regards of feasibility for new articles
  • Coordinate with internal and external departments for pricing and offering

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES BENEFICIAL FOR THE ROLE:

  • At least 5 years of experience in aluminium facades or building systems design in a similar or comparable position.
  • Completed technical training in metal construction or a degree in engineering (mechanical, civil, or a related field); a Master’s degree or specialization in construction is advantageous.
  • Advanced proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD software (AutoCAD, Inventor, and/or Revit).
  • Strong knowledge of relevant facade system standards and UK regulations (CWCT requirements, Building Safety Act)
  • Excellent communication skills, team orientation, and a proactive work ethic.
  • Experience of International/Cross borders project and working environment.
  • Proven record from Aluminium unitized façade industry/Building Systems in the UK.
  • Good command of English, additional language is a plus.
