LEAD TEACHER
Baylake Academy is currently seeking an enthusiastic, energetic, self-motivated Full-Time qualified Lead Teacher to nurture healthy development in our students and encourage lifelong learning.
The primary function of the Lead Teacher is to work with parents, administrators and other teachers to improve students’ experience and meet teaching objectives, all while teaching their own classes and mentoring the Assistant Teachers.
The Lead Teacher position(s) at Baylake Academy is responsible for teaching the specific age level assigned and mentors the Assistant Teacher in the classroom. Additionally, they are responsible for representing the class in meetings with the Director, fellow teachers, and Owners. The Lead Teacher’s salary is based on the candidate’s experience, education and credentials.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED
All candidates who wish to be considered for the position of Lead Teacher must meet the following criteria in addition to any/all requirements that may be mandated by the state and/or local licensing authorities:
· A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or Child Development or 5+ years of equivalent experience in a licensed childcare center or preschool
· Patience, passion, multi-tasking (organizational) skills and strong professional communication skills (both oral and written)
· Able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds
· Proficient in Microsoft Office (specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
· Must be able to work year-round (Monday – Friday)
· The following are a plus:
o Bilingual (Spanish/English) abilities
o Working knowledge of the STEAM approach
o Working knowledge of integrated learning approaches (e.g., individualized and differentiated learning)
o Working knowledge of phenomenon and problem-based learning

· Establish and maintain a safe, healthy and nurturing learning environment that reflects the children’s learning and growth
· Create and maintain ongoing, open communication with parent(s) and caregiver(s)
· Build strong relationships with each family providing a classroom environment that encourages parent participation
· Cultivate positive relationships with families, teachers, state licensing authorities, community contacts and corporate partners
· Plan and prepare classroom setting and supervise children in the classroom; provide a supportive environment in which children can learn and practice appropriate and acceptable individual and group behaviors.
