Description The PK4 Teacher is responsible to guide students in their quest to discern God’s will for their lives at Delmarva Christian Schools. This employee must have a vibrant personal relationship with Jesus Christ to enable them to reach students by helping develop their God-given intellectual, physical, and spiritual talents. The Early Learning Center Teacher believes that every student has been created by God uniquely and challenges them to reach their fullest potential. Requirements Preferred Qualifications: Vibrant, growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ TECE 1 and 2 or equivalent college credits in an appropriate pathway Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education or higher Two years experience in an Early Childhood setting (Preferred) ACSI Early childhood teacher certification CPR/ First Aid certification Strong oral/written communication and organizational skills Able to meet the physical requirements of the position including the ability to lift up to 50 pounds Responsibilities: Classroom Maintain a classroom environment conducive to effective learning and reflecting Christ’s love. Develop and implement well-thought lessons that employ a variety of instructional strategies meant to engage all types of learning styles. Engage through interactive play, sitting on the floor with children (or at tables), reading, playing outside, and asking higher level thinking questions. Clean and arrange the classroom environment in accordance to the program goals and philosophy. Create and utilize learning centers. Maintain open communication with parents, both verbally and written. Report any suspected abuse immediately to the supervisor. Keep all appropriate records such as attendance, timesheets and student assessments. Toilet and change diapers as needed. Maintain and turn in a daily time sheet for 2 week periods. Willing to provide support and coverage to coworkers as needed including helping to maintain the orderliness and organization of the Early Learning Center as a whole. Provide open and constructive communication with the ELC Director and other school administration Upholding confidentiality, a safe and healthy environment, physically, spiritually, and emotionally for all children. Living Curriculum Employ Matthew 18 principle in all conflict resolution. Meet the emotional, social, physical and cognitive needs of each child. Maintain open lines of communication with staff, parents, and students. Maintain confidence in and hope for the success of every student. Speak to the heart of the student while holding each one accountable. Prayerfully maintain a lifestyle that demonstrates a commitment to Christ. Growth Actively promote the program in the community Attend in-service and staff meetings. Attend professional development classes to keep the program engaging and aligned with best practice. Must be able to communicate effectively with children and adults. Must be able to observe, monitor, and respond to children's needs, either close by or across a room or outdoor space. Must be able to position oneself to interact with children at their level (such as kneeling, sitting on the floor, or bending) Must be able to lift and/or move objects up to 40 pounds, (examples: diaper bags, classroom materials, small children needing assistance). Must be able to navigate outdoor play areas, including playground surfaces
