Overview The Instructional Assistant I will perform duties that are instructional in nature and will deliver services to students in a classroom setting under daily direction of an early intervention teacher. The incumbent will interact daily with children to encourage language, social, and self-regulatory development. This position will collect progress and treatment response data, organize the classroom, prepare teaching materials, and assist with parent communication and training. This full-day program provides enriching comprehensive learning experiences for children through play and open ended exploration. Highlights of daily activities include circle time, art/craft activities, free play, rest time and literacy activities. Our pre-K classrooms are an inclusive setting where children have enriched experiences to promote social-emotional development (such as empathy and compassion for people who are different from themselves), perspective-taking, and building friendships, which has been shown to be beneficial to children with typical development as well as those with autism and other developmental delays. Responsibilities Carry out instructional programs in accordance with the Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP), Individualized Education Program (IEP), Office of Child Care (OCC), and Center for Autism Services, Science and Innovation (CASSI). Understand and integrate IFSP and IEP goals where appropriate as directed by the therapist and teacher. Prepare instructional materials for the classroom that meet criteria established by the teacher. Follow classroom routines as outlined by teacher. Utilize effective behavior management strategies as defined by the teacher or therapist. Provide for basic care needs of students during groups and parent meetings, as well as throughout the school day. Assist in data management functions to include data collection and data entry. Participate in parent awareness and training activities. Prepare, lead, and support the teacher’s instructional activities during group and 1:1 activities as directed by the teacher. Clean, organize, and maintain the classroom and related pre-k space. Assist with duties related to transitioning children from location to location, including drop-off and pick-up, and playground. Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS: Must be at least 20 years of age. Must meet the Office of Child Care requirements, to include completion of the 90-hour Child Care Certificate according to the timeline established by the department. Must possess and maintain Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), First Aid, and Medication Administration EDUCATION: High School diploma, GED, or equivalent required. College equivalent coursework in Education, Psychology, or related field preferred. EXPERIENCE: Experience providing child care in an approved setting preferred. Experience as a paraprofessional in a classroom or with special needs population desirable. Minimum pay range USD $15.58/Hr. Maximum pay range USD $24.32/Hr.
