As a Pre-Op you are an integral member of the Pre-op Assessment Department to assist in the provision of quality care to patients presenting to PAT and works under the direction of the RN. This position involves no delegation of tasks or supervision of other members of the healthcare team. The PAT Tech will assume personal accountability for organizational mission, core, and SHARE values. Paramount to this role will be the need for excellent communication skills, as this position will be the primary contact in public relations for this unit. The scope of responsibilities include: data collection related to patient care, phlebotomy, obtaining vitals signs and EKGs, and frequent communication with various physician’s offices via phone and fax; documenting this interaction in the medical record. In collaboration with the healthcare team, the Pre-op Assessment Technician coordinates the clerical functions and activities of the department, working closely with Central Scheduling to ensure the best utilization of departmental human resources. The Pre-op Assessment Technician is responsible for the accurate transcription of physician’s orders, while managing patient documentation systems . This employee demonstrates the ability to facilitate communication between healthcare team members to coordinate patient care and is sensitive to the needs of patients, families, and fellow coworkers. Qualifications In addition to bringing humankindness to the workplace each day, qualified candidates will need the following: Education Requirements: High School Diploma/ G.E.D. (preferred) License/Certifications Requirements: BLS (American Heart Association) (required) Emergency Medical Technician: EMT-B or EMT-I (preferred) Minimum Experience Requiremwents: Successful passing of written pre-assessment (preferred)Completion of St. Mary-Corwin HUC orientation (preferred)Knowledge of medical terminology symbols, and abbreviations, charting procedures-documentation, and computer skills including use of, TDS, Excel and Windows applicationsHas knowledge of organizational chart/ relationships Phydical Requidrements: Medium Work - exert/lift up to 50 lbs. force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. constantly.
