Description Title: Pre-op/PACU Charge Nurse Job Summary Responsible for coordinating activities of nursing personnel in pre-op/PACU patient-care areas according to the policies, procedures, philosophy, and objectives of the facility. Participates in planning work of assigned areas and coordinates activities with other patient-care areas. Ensures that patient needs are met. Works closely with manager in coordinating patient-care service functions. Employment Status - Non-Exempt Duties and Responsibilities 1. Daily operations a) Prepares daily personnel assignments and delegates duties according to experience and skill level to provide quality patient care b) Serve as resource and mentor for nursing staff c) Assists in cross-training clinical staff to create a productive work environment for all clinical areas d) Assists the manager in evaluating the performance of all clinical personnel and for assessing and continuously improving the quality of care and services e) Observes performance of clinical staff members in pre-op/PACU and provides feedback to manager f) Ensures that staff implement established facility policies and procedures g) Participates in designated committees, to include COC meetings h) Analyzes clinical documentation to ensure facility’s policies/procedures are followed i) Serves as a liaison among patients, families, nursing, and medical staff to coordinate quality patient care j) Promotes harmonious relations and favorable attitudes among the healthcare team Requirements Qualifications 1. Graduate of accredited school of nursing 2. Registered Nurse with active license in the state of Kentucky 3. CPR, ACLS and PALS certification 4. Evidence of leadership qualities 5.
