Pre-press / Press Assistant
An opportunity has arisen for a Pre-Press/Press Assistant. This is a fantastic opportunity to work at the only label printers in the UK who are World Class. Job Summary: Responsible for accurately mixing inks, laying plates and delivering raw materials to the press. You will also assist on press in making ready and cleaning down the press.
Working hours: 39 hours per week, Monday to Friday. 1 week on early shift 06:00-14:30 and 06:00-13:30 on Friday. 1 week on late shift: 09:30-18:00 and 10:30-18:00 on Friday. You’ll get 22 days of holiday per year, increasing with length of service up to a maximum of 27 days (plus bank holidays).
Other: There is a possibility for a 50 hour contract for the right candidate. This will be discussed on a case by case basis. The salary for this would be £32,700.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure that all presses always have the next job ready
  • Minimise press downtime by assisting with job changes whenever possible
  • Make sure all components are present and correct for every job including materials, cutters, inks, and varnishes. Check information against job card and fill in QC record accurately
  • Assist in job make ready/press support
  • Record material usage figures, return materials and assist with periodic stock check
  • Ensure stock control system is kept accurate and up to date by accurately logging all material movement
  • Mix inks accurately and utilise ink mix QC check procedure. Log any changes to ensure recipe database is up to date and accurate
  • Utilise offline proofing to accurately match Pantones where required and communicate predicted anilox to press operator
  • Utilise GSE blend system batch traceability to ensure compliance with BRC accreditation
  • Lay plates with a high level of accuracy
  • Ensure all production areas are tidy and free of obstructions and unwanted items
  • Put away press returns in a timely manner. Where possible this should be by the close of each working day
  • Monitor and maintain stock levels of inks and coatings. Report any issues with supply to line manager
  • Monitor and maintain stock levels of pre press consumables
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with colleagues, using both face to face and written methods of communication
  • Attend training when required to develop relevant knowledge and skills.
  • Adhere to stated policies and procedures relating to health and safety, environment, and quality management.
  • Carrying out reasonable additional duties when business needs require.
