We are looking for an experienced Precedents Manager to join our Knowledge Management and Precedents Team. This role can be located in any of our Australian offices- Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth or Sydney.
The Precedents team is part of the firm’s Risk & Legal Excellence team and work with the practice groups to develop and maintain precedents and knowledge resources. They also provide word processing, precedent document automation, technical and administrative support, and assist with other team projects and activities.
The team consists of KM/Precedents managers (senior lawyers), and specialised KM/Precedents advisers and technicians.

Responsibilities
  • Promoting a culture of knowledge sharing
  • Liaising with practice groups to determine their precedent requirements, including automation
  • Managing the delivery of high-quality legal precedents – drafting (or working with internal or external resources to draft), formatting, approval, publication, and ongoing review/updating
  • Assigning tasks to KM/Precedents technicians and overseeing their work
  • Administering the firm’s precedent development incentive scheme
  • Conducting induction training for new partners, graduates and summer clerks on precedents, knowledge resources and Corrs style
  • As a member of the team, providing KM/precedents support (helpdesk) for all staff
    Preferred Qualifications and Experience:.

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • At least five years’ experience in legal practice, preferably with a focus on litigation / dispute resolution
  • The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Excellent legal drafting skills, and an interest in clear written communication
  • Solid Microsoft Word skills, and experience using other Microsoft Office products in a legal environment
  • Experience using I-Deal Docs or other document automation software
  • Excellent prioritisation and organisational skills, able to handle multiple tasks subject to tight deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to successfully liaise and interact with partners, senior managers and other Corrs legal and support staff at all levels
  • A high degree of initiative and the ability to work autonomously
  • An interest in developing and implementing new and creative ways to share knowledge
