Knowledge of insurance carrier requirements. Organize/Provide necessary information to obtain necessary authorizations or precertification from insurance carriers. Notify patients of scheduled appointments and document their acknowledgment. Counsel patients regarding special preparation for procedures and answer questions. Contact insurance payers daily: Medicare, BlueCross BlueShield, and others. Review claim denials and appeal when justified. Verify the accuracy of coding. Compile and prepare reports. REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma or GED EXPERIENCE: One year of general clerical experience, preferably in a medical office setting. Word processing and computer experience. Familiarity with local insurance policies and their referral requirements.
