This is an excellent chance for a Preconstruction Mechanical Project Manager to join a dynamic team, overseeing the early stages of mechanical scopes for large scaled €multimillion projects based out of Co Kildare.
This role is integral to ensuring the successful setup of major projects by overseeing feasibility, design coordination, procurement strategy, and early-stage planning. You will collaborate closely with internal teams, external consultants, and clients to optimise mechanical project execution before construction begins.

PRECONSTRUCTION MECHANICAL PROJECT MANAGER SKILLS:

  • 7+ years in mechanical project management, with a focus on preconstruction and early-stage project development.
  • Proven experience managing large-scale, multimillion-pound mechanical scopes in pharmaceutical, industrial, data center, or commercial sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems design, HVAC, process piping, utilities, and MEP integration.
  • Experience in procurement strategy, subcontractor negotiations, and cost planning.
  • Proficient in project management tools (MS Project, Primavera, BIM360, Revit, Navisworks).
  • Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, or related discipline.
  • Project Management certification (PMP, PRINCE2) is advantageous.
  • Strong knowledge of Irish & UK building regulations and mechanical standards.

As a Preconstruction Mechanical Project Manager

  • Drive the preconstruction phase of mechanical scopes on complex, high-value projects.
  • Lead feasibility studies, concept design reviews, and risk assessments to define project parameters.
  • Develop robust project timelines, procurement strategies, and resource allocation plans for seamless project initiation.
  • Work closely with design teams and consultants to refine mechanical systems for efficiency, constructability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Work alongside estimating and commercial teams to manage cost planning and value engineering.
  • Identify and liaise with key suppliers and subcontractors to ensure competitive procurement and early engagement in project execution.
  • Ensure procurement aligns with project schedules, mitigating potential supply chain risks.
  • Collaborate with MEP consultants, designers, and engineers to refine mechanical system designs and eliminate potential issues before they reach site.
  • Ensure all mechanical systems (HVAC, piping, utilities, fire suppression, process services, etc.) are fully coordinated with structural and electrical disciplines.
  • Manage the handover of preconstruction packages to site teams with clear technical documentation.
  • Act as the primary interface between clients, consultants, and project teams during preconstruction.
  • Lead early-stage project meetings, ensuring alignment on scope, budgets, risks, and technical solutions.
  • Provide expert guidance on mechanical solutions to optimize performance and cost efficiency.
  • Identify potential design, procurement, and installation risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure all early-stage project activities adhere to health & safety regulations, industry best practices, and sustainability targets.
