When our team members work together with these things in mind, we do great things both individually and as an organization. Being an employee-owned company shows our drive for sustainable, long-term growth while enhancing the lives of our team members. Baker Electric is hiring a Prefabrication Coordinator for our Escondido office. The Prefabrication Coordinator will be responsible for the following duties: ESSIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Core Partner with Prefab Manager Align daily: priorities for the look-ahead, release readiness, material status, and delivery windows. Look-ahead status, release readiness, QA, and shipping. Work side-by-side with the Prefab Manager to sequence work, allocate labor, and remove blockers fast. Provide clear status signals (green/yellow/red) and escalate risks early with options and impacts. Prefab Scheduling & Coordination (with Prefab Manager) Co-own the rolling look-ahead, updating from VDC drops and field coordination. Synchronize JIT production with field installation needs and delivery cadences. Track package readiness through release, fabrication, QA, and ship; surface blockers immediately to the Prefab Manager. Internal Communication & Planning Support Prioritize work packages and kitting with prefab leads; sequence by site need/constraint. Coordinate with Procurement, Warehouse, and Field for material readiness and delivery windows. Documentation & Issue Tracking Maintain an issue/risk log tied to incoming VDC packages and shop execution. Produce prefab release plans and handoff summaries; maintain revision history. Capture lessons learned and recurring coordination issues to drive continuous improvement. VDC ↔ Prefab Liaison Serve as the primary intake for VDC deliverables tied to prefab. Translate models/plans into actionable build sheets. Pre-screen for constructability and coordination issues; resolve or escalate before release to Prefab Manager. Loop feedback to VDC on model gaps/missing details and track corrections to closure. Procurement & Material Coordination (with Procurement) Serve as the single point of contact for Procurement for all back orders and general material tied to prefab work packages. Maintain a live back-order log (PO, item, qty, promised ship, alternates, impact) and drive expediting or substitutions; communicate options/impacts to the Prefab Manager and project team. Green/Yellow/Red status on material readiness; surface risks early with recovery plans; trigger resequencing of kitting/production when dates slip. Coordinate with VDC/PM on spec-compliant alternates; ensure approvals before material swaps. Reconcile receipts with BOMs and kits; resolve short/over/damage with Procurement and Warehouse; initiate/track RMAs. Weekly shortage/back-order review with Procurement and Warehouse; update ERP/boards so delivery windows remain accurate. Quality Collaboration (with QC Foreman) Partner with the QC Foreman to define the QA plan per work package (checkpoints, critical characteristics, sampling). Execute first-article/first-run reviews on new or revised assemblies; hold release until pass. Ensure in-process checks and final inspections are completed and documented before shipment; capture photos/labels per standard. Log defects/rework by root cause; close the loop with Prefab leads and VDC; drive corrective actions and update build sheets/standards. Participate in NCRs and post-mortems; feed lessons learned into release plans and future lookaheads. EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: At least 5-7 years of experience in electrical construction running work, including Prefab. Experience working with Procurement, Warehouse, and Field teams to track materials, back orders, substitutions, and logistics. Proven background in project coordination, scheduling, or logistics within a construction environment. Understanding of Bill of Materials (BOM) reconciliation and material readiness tracking. Experience using ERP systems or project tracking software for prefab and material coordination. Competency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Teams, for reporting and communication. Strong organizational and time-management skills — able to manage multiple work packages simultaneously. Excellent communication and documentation habits. Problem-solving mindset with the ability to identify blockers and propose solutions quickly. Hands-on experience with QA/QC processes. At Baker, we are proud to be an employee-owned company.
