Purpose To ensure the YWCA Pregnant Women Program offers, implements and maintains support to expectant mothers and families enrolled, throughout their pregnancy, and provide Home Based services until baby enters center-based setting. Formal Policy-Setting Responsibilities No formal responsibility. The policies associated with job's purpose, essential responsibilities and operation is set by others. Routine Decision-Making Determine upcoming enrollment vacancies, deliveries, and transitioning schedules. Utilize electronic family data system to track information related to pregnant women. Determine schedule to conduct home visits and socialization activities. Determine schedule for developmental and sensory screening within 45 days of baby's entry into Home Based services. Build and maintain community collaboration Formal Supervisory Responsibility None Description Recruit and enroll eligible pregnant women for program utilizing electronic family records and document outcomes in the expectant women family records i.e., application, enrollment, attendance, required documentation, etc. Provide for expectant women's orientation, pre and postpartum assessments and offered the Pregnant Women program opportunity to develop culturally competent goals to support pregnancy woman from conception up to 6 months postpartum. Assist families with identifying, -obtaining and maintaining medical home, insurance, prenatal care, dental care, well-baby visits, screenings and other pertinent medical needs within the first trimester or within 30 days of enrollment and through pregnancy and delivery. Provide or secure prenatal education on fetal development and the risk presented from drug use including smoking and drinking; equip expectant families with tools for labor and delivery; and provide post-partum follow up including but not limited to: whole selfcare, postpartum depression and the benefits of breastfeeding. Assist with arrangement, coordination, implementation of Socialization activities for expectant mothers and family enrolled in program. Provide EHS Home Based services to families as needed and ensure all EHS requirements are met as outline in the Head Start Program Performance Standards. Work closely with Prenatal Service Manager and other program staff, consultant's community collaborations to provide comprehensive services to expectant families and actively participate when and where needed to support the overall program. Actively participated in meetings, attend in-service trainings, attend off-site training, stay up-to date in health information and health trend as related to infant mortality, etc. Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements Required Knowledge Expert knowledge on pregnancy, labor and delivery as well as whole self-care, pre- and post-partum health and parenting skills. Must have a working knowledge of local community resources for pregnancy, labor, delivery and family empowerment. Knowledge of family values, beliefs, traditions and cultural influences. Expert knowledge of child development focusing on the first ears of life. Required Skills or Abilities Ability to problem solve and use of effective communication and verbal skills. Ability to multitask, demonstrate strong time manage, work independently, and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines. Effective us of appropriate verbal and non-verbal/written communication/messages, listening skills, and interpersonal skills, including computer skills. Ability to relate well and coordinate with people from diverse backgrounds. Ability to maintain accurate records of the pregnant women enrolled in the program. Must have and maintain valid driver's license and be willing to recruit with in the community . Formal Education Bachelor's Degree, in Early Childhood preferred; must have or be willing to obtain CDA in Infant Toddler Settings or Home Visitor OR 120 clock hours within the 8 CDA Subject Areas focused on prenatal, birth-3 years within the last 5 years and 480 hours experience working with families with children prenatal, birth-5. Unusual Working Conditions, If Any Execution of home visits in the homes of enrolled families. Must be able to if up to 20 pounds when conducting home visit post-partum.
