Description Job Summary: The prep cook position is a part-time non-exempt (hourly), safety sensitive position responsible for preparing and storing food, assisting with washing dishes and utensils; and maintaining sanitary work areas for all aspects of the kitchen under the supervision of the Kitchen Manager, and in support of the Institute's overall mission. This position will be posted until filled and is a part time position (20-25 hours per week) Salary range is $14.00 -$16.00 per hour Essential duties: Assist Line Cooks with proper preparation of all food items served (soups, meats, vegetables, desserts, etc.) Safe use of kitchen tools and equipment Proficient knowledge of ServSafe guidelines for kitchen cleanliness Ability to assist with preparation of food for all meal types (breakfast, lunch, dinner, hors d’oeuvres, buffet, plated, etc.) Assist with regular kitchen cleaning and maintenance Assist with organization of food deliveries Other duties as assigned Requirements Ability to closely follow instructions to ensure high degree of safety for self and others Know high risk areas and associated safety rules, regulations, etc. Safely operate tools of the trade Maintain Institute and ServSafe standards as it relates to kitchen cleanliness Ability to collaborate with others to complete a task Ability to take direction from supervisors and co-workers Good verbal communication skills Reliable transportation Flexible work schedule Dependability, reliability, ability to arrive to work on time Demonstration of Core Values: Believe the mission; Do the right thing; Have fun; Focus on we, not me; See the possibilities Physical tasks and environmental factors: Stand for entire shift (approx. 8-10 hours) lifting, standing, sitting, sounds, chemicals, hazards, etc Lift minimum of approx. 50 lbs.
