    Job purpose  Assists line cook in preparing and serving of food items. Assist other back of the house employees in various kitchen tasks including ensuring ingredients are in house and up to specifications, providing general cleaning and sanitizing equipment for cooking, washing and storing of food.     Essential Functions     To accomplish this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation, each essential function satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to help enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential function so of the job.     ● Prepare food for cooking, serving.  ● Being present in the kitchen and communicating with others.  ● Measuring ingredients and seasonings to be used in cooking  ● Ensure ingredients are properly kept at appropriate temperature  ● Ensure availability and quality of ingredients at all times  ● Clean work equipment, dishes, utensils, and work areas  ● Prepare food stuff according to instructions from customer and supervisor order  ● Package prepared foods to fit customer’s need  ● Prepare for cooking process by cutting, washing, peeling, and cutting required foods  ● Tender food to waiters/waitresses to serve up to customers  ● Report damaged equipment and low supplies to supervisors  ● Prepare dishes for plating  ● Comply with nutrition and sanitation guidelines  ● Perform other kitchen duties as assigned  ● Monitor with care the temperature of the cooking equipment and cooling rooms  ● Eligible to work in the United States     Qualifications     Experience as a prep cook is preferred but not required. Knowledge of health and safety rules in a kitchen.           Qualifications include:  ● Knowledge of ingredients and kitchen equipment  ● Proven experience as prep cook  ● Knowledge of health and safety rules in a kitchen  ● Manual dexterity able to operate cutting tools and kitchen utensils  ● A team player with good communication skills  ● Patient with an ability to stay positive under pressure  ● Very good physical condition and endurance  ● High school diploma or equivalent is desirable; Training from a culinary school will be an asset  ● Must be eligible to work in the United States        Working conditions     Fast paced environment that can be extremely hot and cold at various times. You will be around sharp objects, hot surfaces and in areas where the floor may be wet or slippery at times.     Physical requirements     ● Required to work on your feet and stand for 8 hours a day.   ● Pick up 50 lbs or less on a regular base.  ● Manually manipulate food.  ● Reach outward.  ● Reach above shoulder.  ● Bend.  ● Grasp.  ● Speak.  ● Push/Pull.  
Responsibilities
The prep cook assists the line cook by preparing, measuring, and seasoning ingredients while maintaining kitchen cleanliness and sanitation standards. They are also responsible for packaging food, monitoring equipment temperatures, and ensuring the availability of quality ingredients.
