Description:

PREP COOK - LOCATED IN CALEDON (ALTON), ONTARIO

We are currently hiring individuals to join our Food & Beverage team in the position of Prep Cook for our 2025 season. The ideal candidate will bring a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and the ability to work cooperatively with others to elevate the guest experience. The primary responsibility of a prep cook is to ensure that ingredients are ready and organized, contributing to the smooth and efficient operation of the kitchen.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proven experience as a prep cook or kitchen assistant.
  • Knowledge of basic culinary techniques and food safety regulations.
  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Valid Safe Food Handlers Certificate.
  • Organized with the ability to multi-task and assist in all kitchen operations.
  • Willingness to accommodate guest requests.
  • Ability to anticipate, prevent, and solve problems as necessary.
  • Passion for cooking and the desire to pursue a career as a cook.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. on occasion and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • The ability to work a varied, flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.

EDUCATION:

  • Enrollment in a related college or post-graduate program is an asset.
  • Experience working in a restaurant or banquet facility is an asset.
    We have AM/PM/full-time/part-time shifts available and are willing to work with the right candidate to build an optimal schedule.
    Expected start date: April/May 2025
    Job Type: full-time and part-time positions available
    Compensation: $17.20-21 per hour + gratuities

Responsibilities:

  • Wash, peel, and chop vegetables, fruits, and herbs.
  • Measure and portion ingredients according to recipes.
  • Prepare meats by trimming, cutting, and marinating as required.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
  • Comfortable to execute hot and cold dishes.
  • Label and store ingredients properly to prevent spoilage and ensure freshness.
  • Taste and evaluate dishes to ensure they meet the restaurant’s standards for flavor, texture, and presentation.
  • Monitor and restock kitchen supplies as needed.
  • Keep track of inventory and communicate with the kitchen manager or chef regarding low stock items.
  • Clean and sanitize kitchen tools and equipment regularly.
  • Report any malfunctioning equipment to the kitchen manager or chef.
  • Follow proper food safety and sanitation procedures.
  • Monitor and maintain hygiene standards in the kitchen.
  • Support the cooking staff during peak hours by assembling and finishing dishes.
  • Collaborate with line cooks to ensure timely and accurate preparation.
