POSITION DESCRIPTION Position Title: Mac Operator Department: PrePress Classification: Hourly Reports to Directly: PrePress Manager Key Back Up: Mac Operator Position Purpose: Preflight and prepare files for Press PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: · Follow and adhere to schedule · Create folder structure for new jobs · Preflight customer’s files. · Prepare the artwork files to be press ready · Rip files and output pdf proof for customer approval · Impose single files according to layout · Output Hi-Res and Low-Res proofs · Maximize production · Perform routine and preventative maintenance of the mac computer · Maintain a safe, clean and organized environment · All other assigned duties QUALIFICATIONS: · Experience Required: · Heidelberg Prinect workflow preferred but not required · Proficient with all desktop applications · Trouble shooting of files Skills/Abilities · To work independently · To follow step by step setup and work with close tolerances · To work in a fast paced environment · To understand and follow verbal and written instructions in English Quality Standards: Must be able to understand quality standards and perform quality checks. Safety: To maintain proper safety standards according to established Sanitary and Housekeeping Practices (GMP Compliance) Proper use of all safety equipment i.e.: proper use of personal protective gear including hairnets, gloves and safety glasses.
Responsibilities
The Mac Operator is responsible for preflighting and preparing customer files for press production. This includes ripping files, creating proofs, performing equipment maintenance, and ensuring a safe, organized work environment.
