JOB SUMMARY

The Pre-Press Designer will work under close supervision to assist in the creation and rebuild of electronic and/or printed graphic materials. This individual will have knowledge of specialized design concepts, media, and software tools to develop comprehensive layouts and the production of marketing collateral.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Minimum of high school diploma with 2 year art/graphic design degree from a community college
  • Computer skills: MUST have experience in vector based software Adobe Illustrator, (MAC or PC). While Illustrator is the primary program used for 90% of our jobs, a high level knowledge in Adobe Photoshop is also desirable. Specifically, color separating art in Photoshop and working in the channels area of the program
  • Proficient in the use of Acrobat, Workshop and Microsoft Office
  • A working knowledge of inks and print properties on various substrates
  • Understanding of design and conceptual skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and customers
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to respond quickly to changing situations as well as multitask
Responsibilities
  • Assist in the design electronic and printed materials for folding cartons, set up boxes, trade exhibits, displays and other channels
  • Co-ordinate production (vector) artwork and virtual samples as each order dictates
  • Assist Manager with the rebuilding artwork files from clients (eg. Creating embossing, coating/ varnish, stamping layers, scaling, cropping, retouching and repositioning)
  • Responsible for archiving and updating graphic files for future access
  • As directed modify files to increase the quality of production and ensure that standards are met
  • Assist in the development specifications and standards for printing and other production
  • As assigned inspect proofs for accuracy and adherence to corporate standards
  • Compare vendor/production proofs to the proofs customers approved for accuracy
  • Performs other duties as assigned
