About the Position: Preschool Assistant Teacher Our teachers have the opportunity to create their own unique classroom environment, and they receive the tools and support needed to succeed. The Preschool Assistant Teacher supports the Lead Teacher in meeting the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical needs of young children, providing a nurturing and faith-filled learning environment. Key Responsibilities Lead activities that promote physical, mental, and social development, including games, arts and crafts, music, storytelling, and sensory exploration. Relate to children with courtesy, respect, acceptance, and patience. Enforce rules and procedures to maintain a safe and orderly classroom environment. Assist with activities that encourage curiosity and investigation, offering a balanced program of instruction and play. Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet the varying needs and interests of students. Welcome and acclimate children to the classroom environment by greeting them, assisting with transitions, and introducing activities. Attend to children's basic needs such as feeding, dressing, and diapering, as age-appropriate. Teach proper eating habits, hygiene, and self-care. Work Environment This role operates in a childcare environment, requiring daily interaction with children in early learning classrooms. Physical Demands The physical requirements for this position include: Frequent sitting, standing, and walking. Occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Ability to frequently lift and move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift up to 40 pounds. Vision abilities including close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Expected Schedule Full-time position: Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Occasional extended hours may be necessary to ensure adequate coverage during center hours. Requirements Required Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent Meet HHS minimum education and experience requirements Preferred Education and Experience Prior teaching experience Additional Eligbility Qualifications Meet minimum age, education, background check and medical qualifications for caregivers established by DFPS Licensing Complete annual training required by DFPS Licensing Maintain Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED certifications If transporting children, Class C driver license with clear Department of Public Safety record and two hours of transportation training annually.
