SUMMARY OF POSITION: To execute a daily program in line with St. Mark Catholic Preschool goals and beliefs for children 18 months through 5 years old. PURPOSE: To provide a nurturing Catholic environment that strives to meet each child's spiritual and cognitive needs appropriate to age and ability to help students become faith-filled, well-rounded learners and thinkers. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Greet and assimilate each child upon arrival to school Provide a stimulating environment conducive to the social, emotional, physical and intellectual development of the child on an individual basis* Recognize and participate in the interests and needs of children in the class* Ensure the health, welfare and safety of each child in the class* Supervise children at ALL times* Assist classroom teacher in the implementation of the curriculum and gathering necessary supplies before children enter into care* Accept rotating responsibilities as assigned (ex. Setting up or putting away playground equipment, etc.) Safety check equipment, toys, furniture and all items in the room to ensure proper working order Assist with bathroom needs as applied to diapering, toilet training or trained children in compliance with state guidelines* Help with care of ill and injured children* Follow program policies, procedures and state licensing minimum standard guidelines* Maintain cleanliness of classroom and appropriate child interactions in accordance to state licensing guidelines* Aid in classroom management* Requirements WORKING CONDITIONS: Must be able to work a flexible schedule Attend workshops for Continuing Education as required by state licensing rules Clean and sanitize toys/surfaces according to established procedures Able to pick up 30-40 lbs children as required in younger age groups Able to conduct activities involving substantial standing, walking and moderate sitting, stooping, kneeling, bending, crouching, crawling, twisting and reaching on frequent basis. Must be able to sit, stoop, bend and kneel on floor without assistance NEEDED ATTRIBUTES: Effectively work and communicate with young children and adults through oral, written and electronic means Provide a caring environment to help each child grow in independence to develop his/her own unique talent and ability Possess a strong work ethic, practices punctuality and professionalism Must agree to background check Flexibility Positive attitude and enthusiastically promotes St. Mark Catholic Preschool *Essential Functions SKILL AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be 18 years of age or older Must have a high school diploma or GED ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS: Communicate effectively and respectfully with St. Mark Catholic Preschool Director, St. Mark Catholic Preschool staff and StMECC staff Communicate with parents and children enrolled in the program Communicate and interact effectively with Classroom Teacher
