Join Our Team as the Early Childhood Development Center (ECDC) Director at St. Peter’s UMC! Our Early Childhood Development Center (ECDC) in Katy, Texas, is excited to announce the search for a new Director to join our team! We are seeking an inspiring, passionate, and energetic individual with excellent leadership and interpersonal skills. This is a full-time, salaried position at our private Christian-based school, which is proudly accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). As the ECDC Director, you will get to:
- Lead a Team of Educators: Hire, train, support and mentor a passionate staff committed to developmentally appropriate early childhood education. Inspire and support your team to reach their full potential and create a nurturing learning environment.
- Partner with Families: Work closely with families to ensure the highest quality care and education for their child’s growth and development. Foster and maintain strong partnerships and open communication with the families by addressing parent questions and concerns in a timely and warm manner.
- Build Positive Relationships: Cultivate a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere by developing strong connections with families, staff, visitors and community members. Create a supportive and collaborative community that values each individual’s contribution.
- Expand Our Presence: Champion the growth of our school by increasing its presence in the community. Attract new families and children to our school by providing tours to prospective parents, responding to inquiries promptly, and sharing our exceptional educational opportunities.
- Management of the School: Ensure that ECDC operations comply with all state and local regulations, and conduct security and safety checks, building inspections, and safety drills.
Entry Required Skills, Qualifications and Experience:
- Educational Background: A degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Elementary Education, or Early Childhood Special Education is strongly preferred.
- Professional Experience: At least five years of early childhood classroom experience, combined with strong administrative and leadership skills.
- Passion for Education: A deep love for children, learning, and a desire to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children, families, and staff every day.
- Relationship Building: The ability to build strong relationships with the church, families, staff, and support a learning environment founded on play-based, developmentally appropriate learning and Christian values.
- Customer Service: Exceptional customer service, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to multitask and manage multiple situations effectively and in a positive and encouraging manner.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proven leadership abilities and experience in team building.
- Background Check and Safe Sanctuary certified prior to starting: Must pass background check and become safe sanctuary certified before start date.
- Financial: Understanding the budget and financial aspects of managing the school’s teachers, staff and operations.
- Accreditation Knowledge: Knowledge and understanding of NAEYC standards, with a commitment to maintaining NAEYC accreditation.
- Licensing Requirements: Meet Texas Licensing Director and NAEYC Administrator requirements.

Schedule:
- Monday to Thursday, with one Friday each month dedicated to teacher training
- Evening Meetings: Quarterly church council meetings, and monthly ECDC Committee meetings (typically via Zoom) and ECDC Parent Council Meetings.
- As needed for school-related functions, meetings, and events.
