POSITION SUMMARY

The Preschool Director is responsible for the overall administration, growth, and daily operations of the licensed preschool program at the Peter Blum Family YMCA. This includes ensuring compliance with state licensing requirements, implementing a high-quality early childhood education curriculum, maintaining enrollment goals, and fostering a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for children, staff, and families. The Preschool Director provides strong leadership, staff development, and parent engagement to create a mission-driven program aligned with YMCA values.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in early childhood education administration.
  • State Director Credential with a VPK Endorsement (or willingness to obtain based on Florida licensing requirements).
  • Strong knowledge of DCF licensing regulations, NAEYC standards, and best practices in preschool education.
  • Experience in staff supervision, budget management, and parent engagement.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Must meet state-mandated background screening requirements

Responsibilities
  • Program Administration & Compliance:
  • Ensure full compliance with all state licensing regulations, health & safety guidelines, and YMCA policies.
  • Maintain accurate records, including child files, staff training certifications, and attendance logs
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to enhance program quality and efficiency.
  • Curriculum & Child Development:
  • Oversee the implementation of a developmentally appropriate curriculum that aligns with YMCA early childhood education standards.
  • Monitor classroom environments to ensure they are engaging, inclusive, and aligned with best practices in early childhood development.
  • Support teachers in implementing lesson plans that promote social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.
  • Staff Leadership & Development:
  • Recruit, hire, train, and evaluate a team of preschool teachers and support staff.
  • Provide ongoing professional development, coaching, and mentorship to ensure high-quality instruction.
  • Conduct regular staff meetings and ensure team accountability for program excellence.
  • Family & Community Engagement:
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with families to ensure high levels of parent satisfaction and engagement.
  • Organize family events, parent-teacher conferences, and community outreach initiatives.
  • Address parent concerns and feedback promptly to maintain a positive reputation for the program.
  • Financial & Enrollment Management:
  • Develop and manage the preschool budget, including tuition revenue, staffing costs, and program expenses.
  • Actively work to increase enrollment through marketing, outreach, and community partnerships
  • Maintain proper billing and financial documentation in collaboration with YMCA accounting staff
  • Fundraising & Community Engagement
  • Support the YMCA’s Annual Campaign, engaging staff, members, and the community in fundraising efforts.
  • Develop and strengthen relationships with local businesses, schools, government agencies, and nonprofit partners to enhance community impact.
  • Represent the YMCA at community events, networking opportunities, and public speaking engagements.
  • Seek grants, sponsorships, and strategic partnerships to support programs and operational initiatives.

This position has a primary impact on the overall effectiveness with which the Family Center accomplishes its purpose, goals and objectives in serving the community. Therefore, the effectiveness of this position should be measured by the following:

  • The smooth operation of the programs.
  • Increased number of children in the Preschool.
  • A well-trained staff that consistently demonstrate positive, cooperative attitudes toward the participants, members, fellow employees and the organization as a whole.
  • High-quality childcare centers with efficiently and professionally trained staff.
  • Sound fiscal operation resulting in meeting revenue goals.
  • Creation of a child-care program that accomplishes the goals and objectives of the Peter Blum Family YMCA of Boca Raton Preschool and Child watch areas, operates efficiently, and serves children and their families in the most effective manner.
