ABOUT US

Prairie Grown Early Learning Centre (PG ELC) is a non-profit and subsidized childcare centre for children ages 18 months to end of kindergarten. PG ELC is dedicated to creating early childhood programming that promotes an early learning environment led by the principles of Play and Exploration from the Ministry of Education. PG ELC focuses on child-led play with a focus on environments that incorporate sustainable materials in each classroom.
At PG ELC, ECEs play an extremely important role to help build on each child’s strengths and abilities in a safe and nurturing environment. Educators are responsive to the interests of the group of children in their care through observation and provide engaging experiences based on developmentally appropriate practices.

QUALIFICATIONS

Completion of one of the following:

  • Early Childhood Educator Certificate/Diploma
  • Education Assistant Program
  • Minimum 1 year of experience working with children under 5 years old
  • First Aid Certificate

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement childcare programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, spiritual, and social development of children
  • Plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security, and wellbeing of children
  • Assess the abilities, interests, and needs of children and discuss progress with parents and other staff members
  • Maintain early learning equipment and assist in housekeeping and cooking duties
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children
