Key Responsibilities

  • Assist teachers with daily preschool classroom activities and learning routines.
  • Supervise children during classroom activities, free play, outdoor play, meals, rest periods, and transitions.
  • Prepare learning materials, activity stations, craft supplies, books, toys, and educational resources.
  • Support age-appropriate activities involving storytelling, music, art, movement, sensory play, numbers, language, and creative exploration.
  • Encourage children's social, emotional, communication, coordination, and early academic development.
  • Help children participate safely and confidently in individual and group activities.
  • Provide appropriate assistance with daily routines such as handwashing, meals, dressing, and personal-care activities.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and welcoming classroom environment.
  • Clean, sanitize, organize, and safely store classroom materials and children's equipment.
  • Observe children's participation, behavior, mood, and general wellbeing and communicate relevant concerns to the lead teacher.
  • Encourage positive behavior using patient, respectful, and age-appropriate communication.
  • Support children who require additional assistance with classroom activities or routines.
  • Help manage transitions between activities, classrooms, meals, outdoor sessions, and other daily routines.
  • Assist with attendance records, activity logs, classroom documentation, and basic administrative tasks.
  • Support teachers during celebrations, educational events, parent activities, field trips, and special classroom projects.
  • Communicate professionally and respectfully with teachers, administrators, parents, and guardians.
  • Follow established safeguarding, child-protection, health, hygiene, and safety procedures.
  • Report accidents, injuries, hazards, or safeguarding concerns immediately through the appropriate channels.
  • Assist with emergency procedures and ensure children remain supervised and accounted for.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, workshops, and professional-development activities.
  • Help create an inclusive classroom environment where every child feels respected, supported, and encouraged.
  • Maintain confidentiality of children's records, family information, observations, and personal details.
  • Follow preschool policies, educational standards, health requirements, safeguarding procedures, and organizational guidelines.
