PRESCHOOL LEAD TEACHER

The Goddard School, NYC has locations on both the Upper West Side and Upper East Side. We are a school, not a daycare center. We are committed to providing the highest level of stimulating development and warm nurturant care for Infants, and an age-appropriate curriculum for One Year-Olds and up in our Toddler, Preschool, and Pre-Kindergarten classrooms. Our schools are state-of-the-art facilities with many large sun-filled rooms. We are seeking a lead teacher for our infant/toddler classroom to start as soon as possible!

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

All candidates, who wish to be considered for the position of Lead Teacher must meet one or more of the following criteria, in addition to any/all requirements that may be mandated by their state and/or local licensing authorities:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Child Development and state certification
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education and five years’ experience in a licensed early childhood center.
  • Proof of current and active enrollment in an accredited Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree program in Early Childhood Education or a related field.

A Lead Teacher’s responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Establishing and maintaining a safe, healthy, and nurturing learning environment
  • Advancing children’s physical and intellectual competence
  • Supporting each child’s social and emotional development and provide positive guidance
  • Establishing positive and effective family relations and communication
  • Ensuring an effective program, responsive to children’s needs
  • Maintaining professional commitment
  • Ability to lift objects of up to 30 lbs. without assistance
  • Ability to implement requirements of Department of Health standards
  • Prepare timely notation of developmental milestones of each student
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear and taste or smell.
  • Ability to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch.
