GRANBY PUBLIC SCHOOLSSpecial Education Teacher/Preschool TeacherJOB DESCRIPTION Position: Special Education Teacher/ Preschool Teacher Job Goal: To develop and maintain a flexible preschool program that provides an environment favorable to learning and personal growth; to assist students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for further participation in the total school program, in accordance with each students ability; and to establish good relationships with parents and with other staff members. To help students with disabilities learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able and responsible men and women by Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks. The position will consist of a half day preschool program teacher and half day special education teacher/interventionist for students in the lower elementary school. Supervision: Reports to the Building Principal and the Director of Pupil Services.
Education, Work Experience, and Licensure: Required: Department of Education Licensure as an Early Childhood Teacher (PreK 2) and/or Moderate Disabilities (PK-8). MA DESE Certified Acceptable C.O.R.I. and fingerprint report as determined by the SuperintendentPreferred: Prior work experience as a Preschool Teacher. Performance Responsibilities: - Provides learning experiences in language arts, social studies, pre-reading, mathematics, science, and art using the course of study adopted.
Adheres to Massachusetts DESE curriculum frameworks for instruction. - Instructs students in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school. - Provides specialized instruction for students with disabilities consistent with state and federal regulations. - Develops and uses instructional materials suitable for verbal or visual instruction of students with a wide range of mental, physical, emotional maturities and abilities.
