POSITION: HEAD START PROGRAM PRESCHOOL TEACHER ASSISTANT LOCATIONS: Colonel Zubkoff Center, 55 NW 199th Street, Miami, Fl. 33169 When: Daytime, Monday thru Friday, 40 hours per week, hours are 7:30am to 4:00pm Hourly Rate of Pay: $17.91 per hour *FCCPC Birth–Five or CDA Preschool certification required, or an Associate in Early Childhood Responsible for assisting Head Start classroom teachers in the care and development of children enrolled in an early childhood education center as well as maintenance of the classroom. Hours vary based on an as-needed basis. Assists in planning and teaching activities within the YWCA’s developmentally appropriate framework to encourage the advancement of children’s cognitive, social/emotional, physical and creative skills. Requirements (describe the educational and skill requirements): High diploma or GED required, CDA/FCCPC childcare certification required. Associate’s in Early Childhood Education a definite plus. One or two years of experience working with preschool children in a child care facility preferred, preferably in a Head Start program. DCF Child Care 45 hour childcare training in addition to VPK courses and 15 hours of continuing education each year thereafter; however, the YWCA reserves the right to increase hours of training annually. Red Cross First Aid certificate; certificate of good health and completed TB test. Required to have fingerprint and background check level 2, and drug test. Responsibilities

The Preschool Teacher Assistant is responsible for aiding Head Start classroom teachers in the care and development of enrolled children, as well as maintaining the classroom environment. This includes assisting in planning and teaching developmentally appropriate activities to advance children's cognitive, social/emotional, physical, and creative skills.
