Mile High Early Learning has openings for Preschool Teachers at our Westwood Denver location.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Plan, organize and deliver a developmentally appropriate preschool education program based on the individual cognitive, motor, social and emotional needs of children enrolled. Manage the classroom to create a positive, healthy and safe learning environment. Implement the Agency’s early childhood education curriculum. Ensure the implementation and maintenance of Agency policies and procedures, Head Start standards, and State of Colorado child care licensing requirements. Provide direction and leadership to classroom staff. Partner with the Center Director, Head Start Director, Education Compliance Coordinators, and other staff to manage Agency activities. Overtime may be required on evenings or weekends based on Agency needs.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Demonstrated teaching skills, as displayed by a minimum of 2 years of experience in the classroom
  • Demonstrated professionalism and ability to use appropriate communication and management skills including excellent writing ability
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, lead, and model exemplary instructional practices
  • Ability to work full time, Monday through Friday, with occasional evening meetings

Responsibilities
  • Lead a classroom of up to 17 preschoolers ages three to five
  • Co-Lead the teaching team of two other classroom staff
  • Work closely as a classroom teaching team to individualize the curriculum to meet the children’s needs
  • Support children’s social and emotional needs
  • Complete developmental assessments and screenings
  • Complete home visits (twice per year) and parent teacher conferences
  • Work as a team to complete parent/teacher conference and home visits
  • Encourage and support family involvement in the classroom
  • Create a safe and healthy learning environment
  • Supervise the safety of the children in care
  • Supervise volunteers and student interns as applicable
  • Communicate with coworkers and families in a warm and professional manner
