Description The Lead Preschool Teacher at the Emory Autism Center (EAC) organizes and conducts day-to-day educational activities for children ages 12 months to 5 years of age, to children with and without autism spectrum disorder in an inclusive preschool classroom. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Working with the program coordinator, develops appropriate curriculum for the classroom. Creates, organizes and provides educational activities and support to promote language, social, and adaptive behavior development. Supervises teaching staff in developing and implementing activity, preparation, set-up and clean-up as well as classroom environmental set-up. Monitors child activity and behavior within the classroom. Ensures compliance with state, university, and practice policies and procedures for all staff. Performs related responsibilities as required. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in psychology, education, special education, behavioral science, or related field preferred and three years of experience working with in early childhood education. Must be at least 18 years old, have reliable transportation and pass a background check. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field preferred.Proven experience in a preschool setting or similar early childhood education environment. Experience working with children with autism. Strong knowledge of child development principles and age-appropriate teaching strategies. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to lead and motivate a team of assistant teachers. Understanding of various teaching methodologies and the ability to adapt them to meet individual learning needs. NOTE: Position tasks are required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location; working remote is not an option. Emory reserves the right to change this status with notice to employee.
