JOB OVERVIEW

At New Leaf Prep Academy, we believe learning flourishes when children are immersed in a holistic environment that honors both their individual development and their connection to the natural world. Rooted in the Montessori philosophy and inspired by nature-based education, we nurture curiosity, independence, empathy, and a lifelong love for learning.
We invite passionate educators to join us in guiding young children (ages 18 months–3 years) through meaningful experiences that blend Montessori methods, holistic growth, and daily engagement with nature.
Key Responsibilities

Holistic & Montessori Instruction

  • Implement and support our nature-based, Montessori-aligned curriculum
  • Develop lesson plans and curriculum maps that integrate outdoor exploration and hands-on learning
  • Observe and adapt to each child’s learning style and developmental stage
  • Collaborate with colleagues to design holistic, child-centered learning experiences
  • Thoughtfully use nature-based learning and Montessori materials

Guiding Whole-Child Development

  • Welcoming and nurturing demeanor with children.
  • Support students’ academic, social, emotional, and moral development
  • Create a prepared environment indoors and outdoors, fostering wonder, independence, and respect for nature
  • Conduct ongoing assessments (formal and informal) to guide instruction
  • Maintain open communication with parents, students, and colleagues
  • Ensure student safety and wellbeing in classroom, playground, and nature-based activities
  • Uphold Montessori principles while embracing seasonal rhythms and natural cycles

Professionalism & Community

  • Build positive relationships within the school community.
  • Demonstrate flexibility, patience, and warmth with children and colleagues.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding students, staff, parents, and school matters.
  • Perform duties ethically and professionally, with patience and courtesy.
  • Good verbal, listening, and written communication skills.
  • Willing to learn new ideas and work well with others.
  • Engage physically with young children, including lifting up to 70 lbs and supporting outdoor activities.
  • Maintain confidentiality and model ethical conduct.
  • Complete all reports, lesson plans, and documentation by required deadlines.
  • CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain.
  • Shaken Baby Prevention training or willingness to obtain.
