Description Vermont Hills Family Life Center – St. Andrew’s ECE Center|Portland, OR|Full-Time, Temp. 8–12 weeks)| $22.67 – $29.42/hr About Us Vermont Hills Family Life Center (VHFLC) is a mission-driven organization dedicated to supporting the healthy development of children and strengthening families in our community. Our St. Andrew’s ECE Center is a warm, inclusive, and child-centered space where every child is seen, valued, and supported to thrive. The Opportunity We’re looking for two passionate and experienced Temporary Lead Preschool Teachers to cover leave of absences on our team. These are full-time roles, Monday–Friday, 8am–5pm or 9am-6pm, for approximately 8–12 weeks — a wonderful opportunity to make a real difference in children’s lives while working alongside a caring, collaborative team. What You’ll Do • Plan and implement a play-based, developmentally appropriate curriculum aligned with Oregon’s Early Learning standards and VHFLC’s philosophy • Supervise and engage preschool-aged children in activities that spark creativity, exploration, and problem-solving • Create and maintain a safe, welcoming classroom that supports children’s autonomy and cooperation • Build warm, professional relationships with children and families through daily communication and family conferences • Use positive guidance techniques to support self-regulation and conflict resolution • Maintain health, safety, and documentation standards — including incident reports, medication logs, and developmental observations • Collaborate with the ECE Site Director and teaching team to continuously improve the learning environment Compensation $22.67 – $29.42 per hour, based on experience and qualifications. Why Join VHFLC? • A supportive, collaborative team with a child-centered, equity-focused mission • Paid training and continuing education incentives • Opportunities for professional growth within the organization • The chance to make a meaningful impact on children and families in our community Requirements What We’re Looking For Minimum Qualifications (per Oregon ELD licensing requirements) • An Associate’s degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field — OR at least one year of qualifying teaching experience (minimum 1,500 hours) in a licensed ECE program with preschool-aged children • At least a Step 7 in the Oregon Registry (ORO), or the ability to attain it within 30 days of hire • Enrollment in the Oregon Central Background Registry • Current Adult & Pediatric First Aid, CPR & AED certification • Current Oregon Food Handler’s Card • Completion of required ELD trainings: RRCAN, ICCHS, PBtT, FFL, and Safe Sleep for Oregon’s Infants You’ll Thrive Here If You… • Are passionate about nurturing and educating young children • Communicate clearly and warmly with families and colleagues • Stay calm and exercise sound judgment in challenging situations • Are committed to equity, inclusion, and respectful interactions • Can sit on the floor, lift up to 40 lbs, and stay active with children indoors and outdoors Location St. Andrew’s ECE Center, 3228 Sunset Blvd, Portland, OR 97239 Please note: This location has limited public transit access.
