Responsibilities

JOB DUTIES:

  • Reads job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements.
  • Sets stops or guides to specified length as indicated by scale, rule, program, or template.
  • Reads and interprets blueprints, sketches, or product specifications to determine sequence and methods of fabricating sheet metal products.
  • Operates fabricating machines such as brakes, presses, or forming rolls, to bend materials.
  • Positions work piece against stops or aligns layout marks with die.
  • Depresses pedal to activate machine.
  • Observes machine operation to detect work piece defects or machine malfunction.
  • Measures work piece dimensions to determine accuracy of machine operation.
  • Performs minor machine maintenance such as oiling machines, dies, or work pieces during production runs when needed.
  • Assists lead/setup operator to set up and tear down machines.
  • Stacks, identifies, and packages, finished work pieces to designated area.
  • Rivets and spot welds work pieces.
  • Keeps accurate counts of finished goods and scrap.
  • Keeps work area clean and free of clutter.
