Description

Overlanders Manufacturing is seeking an experienced NC Press Brake Operator to join our team. We are looking for a skilled operator with strong mechanical and mathematical abilities and at least 2 years of experience. The ideal candidate is a reliable team player with excellent attendance, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Technical Proficiency: 2+ years in operating hydraulic and mechanical press brake machines, including setup, calibration, and adjustment for various bending operations.
  • Blueprint Reading: Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and job specifications to determine dimensions, angles, and tolerances.
  • Precision Measurement: Proficient in using measuring tools such as calipers, protractors, and gauges to verify accuracy and ensure quality standards.
  • Material Handling: Knowledge of sheet metal preparation techniques including cleaning, deburring, trimming, and marking for precise bending.
  • Mechanical Aptitude: Strong understanding of machine mechanics, including stroke length, pressure settings, and alignment for optimal performance.
  • Attention to Detail: Capable of identifying defects such as warping, cracks, or uneven bends and making necessary adjustments to maintain quality.
  • Safety Awareness: Familiar with workplace safety protocols, proper lifting techniques, and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Efficiency & Productivity: Ability to optimize machine setup and cycle times to reduce waste and improve throughput in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Problem-Solving: Able to troubleshoot machine issues and make quick, effective decisions to maintain workflow and product quality.
  • Team Collaboration: Works well with others in a production team, communicating effectively to meet project deadlines and quality expectations.
Responsibilities
  • Machine Operation: Operate press brake machinery to bend and shape sheet metal according to precise specifications. Responsibilities may include selecting appropriate tooling and adjusting machine settings for each job.
  • Metal Bending: Perform bending operations to achieve required angles and dimensions, often involving multiple bends. Ensure accuracy through gauging and make necessary machine adjustments.
  • Blueprint and Work Order Interpretation: Read and interpret engineering blueprints and work orders to determine required dimensions, angles, and tolerances for each project.
  • Machine Setup: Prepare the press brake for operation by installing tooling, adjusting the back gauge, and confirming all safety protocols are in place.
  • Programming: Input job specifications and parameters into computer-controlled machinery as needed, using control panels or software interfaces.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct in-process inspections using precision measuring tools such as calipers, protractors, and height gauges. Verify part accuracy before submitting to Quality Control for final approval.
  • Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve issues such as material misalignment or machine malfunctions. Collaborate with the Brake Coordinator or Supervisor when necessary.
  • Safety Compliance: Maintain a safe working environment by following all safety procedures, wearing required PPE, and adhering to company policies and regulations.
  • Time Management: Efficiently manage workflow to meet production deadlines. Prioritize tasks and optimize machine setup and operation to stay within designated cycle times.
  • Material Handling: Use appropriate equipment—such as forklifts, pallet jacks, hoists, or carts—based on the size, weight, and type of material being moved.
