Job Title: Press Helper Job Category: Manufacturing-Hourly Department/Group: Manufacturing Status: Non-Exempt Location: Van Buren, AR Supervisory Responsibilities: No Level/Salary Range: $16.50 (Day Shift) $17.50 (Night Shift) Position Type: Full-time Hourly Supervisor: Press Operator Safety Sensitive: Yes Will Train Applicant(s): Yes Levels: 1   Job Description Summary: Assist the press operator in the setting up and operation of flexographic printing presses that prints designs up to eight colors on rolls of polyethylene film. Essential Duties & Responsibilities * To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and must help to ensure that the printed product being produced meets or exceeds our internal quality standards and our customer expectations. The qualifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. The work environment and physical demands listed is representative of those encountered by individuals while performing the essential functions of this job.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions * Review specs such as; Work Order, Print Master, Mounter Proof, and Samples. * Clean pumps, lines, trays, and doctor blade units with proper solvent. * Transfer pumps to the correct new ink and reduce to specific startup viscosity. * Obtain supplies (inks, cores, make-ready stock, cleaning materials, etc.) needed for setups. * Label and cart all return ink. * Keep rolls loaded onto the un-wind and taped up for splicing. * Periodically add ink as needed * Assist flowman in changing out pans. * Performs preventive maintenance. * Performs all end of the shift clean up. * Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner. * Must be able to work twelve (12) hour shifts Benefits * Medical, Dental and Vision * Life Insurance * Disability Insurance * 401k with company matching * Paid Time Off * Holidays Qualifications and Education Requirements   Education * High School diploma or general education degree (GED); or Six to twelve months manufacturing experience and/or training; or * Equivalent combination of education and experience. Language Skills * Must be able to read and interpret English language documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, company handbook, and procedure manuals.  * Must be able to speak and write in English effectively when presenting information to supervisors and fellow employees. Mathematical Skills * Required to add, subtract, multiply and divide in units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. * Required to read a tape measure. Essential Physical Demands * While performing the duties required of this position, the employee is constantly required to stand for up to 12 hours, walk, use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.  * The employee will occasionally be required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.  * Employee must regularly lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds or more than fifty (50) pounds with assistance or proper equipment. * Specific vision abilities required by this role include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. * This role requires the employee to concentrate for long periods of time. Work Environment * The work environment includes moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles. * There is the possibility the employee will occasionally be exposed to high precarious places, hazardous chemicals, extreme heat, and risk of electrical shock. * The noise level in the work environment can be considered loud. * The temperature is not completely controlled and can be considered to be related to seasonal conditions. Hazmat Incident Responsibilities Training * Initial and annual training on elements of OSHA HazCom and EPA hazardous waste operating procedures, DOT hazmat handling procedures, incidental spill response protocol, evacuation drills and flammable liquid fire safety procedures.
