Responsibilities

Preparing components for Installation:

  • Review the planning schedule to determine priority production of jobs.
  • Check the order number as well as the plate number and ensure all materials comply with the order requirements.
  • Retrieve correct die from the storage unit (if applicable) and place it on the trolley with the plate bag and the cylinder.
  • Pull envelopes with plates as required to match work orders and to meet production schedule.
  • Examine plates and cylinders prior to mounting to ensure they are defect free.
  • Communicate defective plates to the supervisor/manager.
  • Promptly mount correct number of plates according to schedule, colors and cylinder required.
  • Mount plates to correctly minimize re-mounts due to misalignment.
  • Ensure press operators are not down due to not having plates
  • Assist with setting up the press stations by assembling trays, hoses ink kits doctor blades and annilox.
  • Cut sticky back for cylinder.
  • Monitor ink level in trays that they do not spill over or become shallow.
  • After the job is finished, splice fresh roll at the head of the press; collect off cuts and throw in garbage.
  • Assist with removing components from the press at the completion of each job.

  • Clean up the press and components and return material etc. to storage. If necessary check die for defects and take the appropriate action.
  • Wash up all hoses, annilox, trays, doctor blades, ink kits, etc. after the job is done
  • Remove all plates with care and wash.
  • Inspect washed plates for defects before placing into the plate bag.
  • Verify all plates from the job are accounted for, cleaned and returned to plate bag with the finished rolls
  • Maintain good housekeeping in press areas by sweeping up around the machine and disposing of garbage and ensure everything is tidy before leaving for the day.
