Description
JOB DESCRIPTION Mid-Level Business Analyst Department: Product & Strategy Location: Nairobi, Kenya (Hybrid) Reports To: Head of Product Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent Role Summary We are looking for a curious, analytically rigorous Mid-Level Business Analyst to join our Product & Strategy team. In this role you will serve as the critical bridge between business stakeholders, product management, and engineering — translating strategic objectives into clearly defined requirements, user stories, and data-driven recommendations that shape the products our customers depend on every day. You will own the end-to-end requirements lifecycle: facilitating discovery workshops, mapping current-state and future-state business processes, conducting gap analyses, and partnering with data teams to surface insights that inform roadmap priorities. Your work will directly influence how we design, build, and iterate on payment, lending, and digital banking products across East Africa. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-moving fintech environment, is comfortable navigating ambiguity, and brings a strong blend of technical fluency and business acumen. You should be as confident writing SQL queries and building dashboards as you are presenting findings to senior leadership. Key Responsibilities Collaborate with product managers, engineers, designers, and business stakeholders to elicit, analyse, and document functional and non-functional requirements. Map, model, and optimise business processes using BPMN or equivalent notation, identifying inefficiencies and recommending improvements. Write clear, testable user stories and acceptance criteria that align with Agile delivery practices and sprint planning cadences. Build and maintain dashboards and reports using SQL and visualisation tools (e.g., Power BI, Metabase) to track product KPIs and surface actionable insights. Conduct competitive analysis, market research, and data-driven feasibility studies to support product strategy and investment decisions. Facilitate workshops, stakeholder interviews, and UAT sessions to validate requirements and ensure delivered solutions meet business needs. Support regulatory and compliance workstreams by documenting process controls, data flows, and audit trails relevant to KYC/AML and payments regulations. Maintain a well-organised backlog and requirements repository, ensuring traceability from business objectives through to delivered features. Nice-to-Have Qualifications CBAP (Certified Business Analysis Professional) or CCBA certification. Experience with API documentation and integration requirements (REST, GraphQL, webhooks). Familiarity with product analytics platforms such as Mixpanel, Amplitude, or Google Analytics. Exposure to machine learning or AI use cases in financial services (e.g., fraud detection, credit scoring). Prior experience working with mobile money platforms (M-Pesa, Airtel Money) or payment switches. This role is open to candidates legally authorised to work in Kenya. We are an equal opportunity employer committed to building a diverse and inclusive team.
Responsibilities
The Business Analyst will bridge the gap between business stakeholders, product management, and engineering to define requirements and strategic objectives. They will also manage the end-to-end requirements lifecycle, including process mapping, data analysis, and dashboard creation to track product KPIs.
