QUALIFICATIONS

Other Requirements:

  • Successful completion of background, MVR, and DFWP screenings.
  • Flexibility to work during school hours as scheduled.
  • Local travel between assigned schools required.

Certificates/Licenses:

  • Certified Prevention Professional or eligible for certification.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, Human Services, Education, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of post-bachelor’s experience in prevention, education, or behavioral health preferred.

SUMMARY

The Prevention Coordinator (Part-Time, School-Year) delivers the evidence-based Botvin LifeSkills Training program to 3rd and 4th grade students in Nassau County schools. This 9-month, part-time position is focused on classroom-based prevention education, equipping students with the knowledge and skills to make healthy choices and avoid high-risk behaviors.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of evidence-based prevention and health education practices.
  • Effective classroom management and student engagement strategies.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to maintain program fidelity.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and electronic documentation systems.
  • Strong oral/written communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with children from diverse backgrounds.
Responsibilities
  • Teach Botvin LifeSkills Training curriculum with fidelity to assigned 3rd and 4th grade classrooms.
  • Maintain classroom management that promotes a safe and engaging learning environment.
  • Collect, enter, and maintain program data and student outcome measures in electronic health records.
  • Submit accurate and timely reports and documentation as required.
  • Attend required training and professional development to maintain program quality.
  • Collaborate with school personnel as needed to support program scheduling and delivery.
