Description BCCS is Seeking a Prevention Specialist for Our AOD Program! Who We Are: Since 1985 Brandywine Counseling & Community Services, Inc. BCCS is a community organization that prides itself on helping members of our community recover with dignity. We enhance the quality of life by creatively providing Education, Advocacy, Prevention, Early Intervention and Treatment Services. We promote hope and empowerment to persons and families touched by mental illness, substance abuse, HIV and multiple occurring diagnoses, and their related challenges. What You'll Do as a Prevention Specialist with Brandywine Counseling: You would be responsible for presenting prevention education. Establish relationships with various organizations to promote our prevention and organizational goals. Work closely with various programs collaborating with our organization. Present educational presentations in the community, attend various taskforce, coalition, and community meetings. The position encompasses several duties. The Prevention Specialist must have knowledge and a thorough understanding of the agency’s various services and collaborated programs to be able to effectively communicate them to them to the community. Must be detail-oriented, have excellent communication and presentation skills. Through personal appearance, face-to-face contact, or telephone and email correspondence, the Prevention Specialist must exhibit a professional and welcoming image to participants, staff, and the public. For this program, experience with children to adolescents is necessary as it is the target population. You will be working with individuals aged 18 - 24. The Prevention Specialist is responsible for providing quality, sufficient and appropriate services and maintaining high professional standards. This position is primarily a community-based position, so work will be performed outside of an office setting on a regular and consistent basis. Requirements Qualifications for this position are: REQUIRED: At least 1-2 years' related work experience. Familiarity with Primary Prevention, including substance misuse and early intervention. REQUIRED: For this program it is necessary to have experience with children, to adolescents, and young adults as it is the focus population. REQUIRED: High School Diploma or GED REQUIRED: Valid driver's license with 2 points or less. Must have own vehicle. PREFERRED: Bachelor's degree in related social service and/or communications field. Schedule: 8:00 A.M. - 4:00 P.M. Monday - Friday Some weekends and evenings required for community events Salary: Starts at $19.50/hour Commensurate with experience and education.
