Location : Roseville, MI 48066 Area of Service: Grosse Pointe Communities & Harper Woods Salary : $20.00 per hour Benefits: * Generous paid time off and holidays * Flex work schedule Monday - Friday, some weekends required   Job Summary  Preventionists support community-based efforts aimed at delaying the onset of substance use in youth.   The ideal candidate will successfully coordinate and assist with the implementation of prevention strategies within local schools, while engaging key community stakeholders to address environmental factors that can contribute to the use of tobacco, alcohol, and other drugs.  Preventionists are comfortable with public speaking and working in groups.     Description of responsibilities: 1. Market substance use presentations to schools, community, and faith-based organizations located in communities served by CARE of SEM.  2. Provide training to coalition members on evidence-based substance use prevention community change models. 3. Disseminate substance use information at health and public fairs, school open houses and other community events as requested.  4. Demonstrates full comprehension of management by objective (MBO) plan and meets quality programmatic standards. 5. Ability to adjust hours of work based on the community needs, including evening and weekend hours. 6. Knowledgeable of national and local substance use and prevention statistics and demonstrates the ability to apply current trends to service delivery. Required experience: 1. Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment. 2. Must possess knowledge and understanding of Recovery Oriented System of Care and Trauma Informed Services. Required skills / education: 1. High School/GED required; A Bachelor’s degree in social work, sociology, psychology, family ecology, consumer/community services, family studies, family and/or child development, guidance/school counseling, counseling psychology, education, public health, human services, or criminal justice is preferred. 2. Must be certified as a Prevention Consultant or Prevention Specialist (CPC-R or CPS) or be eligible for a registered development plan and be timely in its implementation upon hire. 3. Possess a valid motor vehicle operator license.
