Description

The Adams Lake Indian Band (ALIB) is seeking a Family Nurse Practitioner to join our expanding health and wellness team. This role will serve members of Adams Lake Indian Band, Skwlāx te Secwepemcúl̓ecw (Squilax), and Neskonlith Indian Band, delivering services grounded in trauma-informed, culturally safe, and wholistic mental wellness approaches.
This is a four-year term position funded through the Primary Care Network (PCN), with the potential for extension based on program success and future funding. The Nurse Practioner will work under the direction of the Sexqeltqin Senior Health Officer and collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams across all three communities. An ALIB band vehicle will be made available for work related travel.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS

  • Master of Science in Nursing – Family Nurse Practitioner or Registered Nurse (RN) in pursue of FNP
  • Active full practice registration with BCCNM, and must be in good standing
  • Experience or strong interest in Indigenous health, rural/remote practice, or culturally safe care
  • Training in Cultural Safety & Humility or willingness to complete it
  • Valid BC driver’s license & ability to travel between sites

Valid BC Class 5 Drivers License

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Primary Clinical Care

  • Deliver full-scope primary care to individuals and families, including:
  • Preventative health screening (e.g., immunizations, cervical screening, cardiovascular risk assessments)
  • Chronic disease management (e.g., diabetes, hypertension, COPD, arthritis)
  • Acute episodic care (e.g., infections, minor injuries, asthma exacerbation)
  • Mental health assessments and treatment planning (e.g., depression, anxiety, PTSD)
  • Women’s health (e.g., contraceptive care, prenatal/postnatal care, menopause management)
  • Conduct comprehensive health assessments, including physical exams, diagnostic interpretation, and clinical decision-making
  • Order and interpret laboratory tests, diagnostic imaging, and other relevant investigations
  • Initiate, renew, or adjust pharmacological therapies in accordance with current guidelines and BCCNM scope of practice
  • Provide end-of-life and palliative care in collaboration with appropriate teams and family members

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

May provide advice and mentorship to other health professionals.
