POSITION OVERVIEW

Calian is seeking a Family Physician to work at CFB Gagetown medical clinic as an essential member of the health care team in the provision of comprehensive, multidisciplinary, collaborative primary health care services to the Canadian Armed Forces members. These services include primary care, minor trauma care, health promotion, prevention of diseases and injuries, rehabilitation and support services. QUALIFICATIONS

  • License from the provincial professional college in the location of practice
  • Certification in Family Medicine with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CCFP)
  • Basic Life Support for Health Providers or CPR/AED Level C Certification

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of 1year full time equivalent experience directly providing patient medical care in an ambulatory primary care, occupational medicine, urgent care or emergency medicine setting
  • Part time and full time positions available
  • Monday to Friday, clinic open from 7h30AM to 4h00PM
Responsibilities
  • Assessments of medical fitness for duty, including pre- and post- deployment, Periodic Health Assessment, recruiting medicals, hazardous occupation assessments, and post-illness or injury
  • Diagnosis and treatment of occupational and environmental injuries and illnesses, including rehabilitation
  • Establishment of patient Medical Employment Limitations (MEL), approve and recommend sick leave, and assign and recommend changes in medical category in accordance with policies
  • Maintenance of occupational health records through Electronic Health Record and other health records forms
  • Provision of comprehensive primary medical care to patients with acute and chronic health conditions including referral to other health care providers when warranted
