IDEALLY WE ARE LOOKING FOR A CANDIDATE TO START AT THE BEGINNING OF THE 2025/6 ACADEMIC YEAR. HOWEVER, FOR THE RIGHT CANDIDATE WE ARE HAPPY TO WELCOME SOMEONE FROM OCTOBER HALF-TERM TO ALLOW FOR NOTICE PERIODS.

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with special educational needs? Do you have the vision, dedication and expertise to lead on inclusive practices and support every learner to achieve their full potential? We are seeking an experienced and committed SENCo to join our vibrant and inclusive school.
We’re a unique Academy, with a strong community feel despite our location in central London. We truly believe it takes a village to raise a child and are proud of the role we play in our children’s development. As such at South Bank Primary we do not underestimate the importance of community and know that support must go beyond the academy gates. We welcome all families and carers to be involved in the life of our academy.
Our ideal candidate will be an experienced SEN professional with knowledge of how to support children with a range of SENs and a passion to include. Our school includes a SEN resource base for up to 12 children and our SENCo will play a key role in supporting the base’s staff team. The role also includes 2 days teaching in a Key Stage 2 class.

Responsibilities
  • Leading the strategic development of SEN provision across the school
  • Identifying pupils with SEN and ensuring appropriate supports and interventions are put in place
  • Working with the local authority to apply for and manage Educational, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
  • Support our SEN resource base staff and children
  • Providing training, guidance and support to staff on inclusive teaching and learning practices
  • Report on progress and maintain accurate records of SEN provision and pupil achievement
  • Teaching two days a week in a Key Stage 2 class
