Description Job Summary: The Primary Press Operator will safely set up, adjust, and operate primary punch press machines in a manufacturing environment. Supervisory Responsibilities: None. Duties/Responsibilities: Sets up and operates punch press machinery in accordance with prints and specifications. Determines the best method to set dies. Produces the required quantity of parts within established specifications and tolerances. Measures finished parts with precision tools, ensuring compliance with function, quality, and cosmetic specifications. Inspects equipment prior to use to ensure proper setup and alignment; performs basic and routine adjustments and maintenance. Maintains a clean, safe, and orderly work area. Assists with cleaning, inventory, maintenance, and housekeeping as needed. May assist in material handling duties as needed. Performs other related duties as assigned. Requirements Required Skills/Abilities: Ability to follow directions and work well in a team. Ability to interpret and translate engineering designs and documentation. Thorough understanding of or the ability to quickly learn production equipment. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Understanding of and the ability to abide by applicable OSHA and environmental regulations. Ability to read blueprints and use calipers, micrometers, and various other measuring tools. Ability to exercise sound judgment in adapting setups. Must work well independently and in a team environment. Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions. Must have good basic math skills. Ability to communicate and work with people in office, factory, and inspection as required. Must be safety oriented. Ability to maintain correct tolerances and quality specifications. Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent required. At least one year of related experience preferred. Completion of on-the-job training may be substituted for educational requirements. Previous press operating experience or certificate is a plus. Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods working on feet, using tools, and performing repetitive actions that entail frequent bending and stooping. Must be able to lift up to 70 pounds at a time. Visual acuity to read instructions, operate machines, and inspect parts produced. Must wear safety glasses.
Responsibilities
