Responsibilities

YOUR ROLE:

To carry out a full range of duties to provide high standards of cleanliness, general security, and maintenance of the school premises. To include cleaning and gardening activities. Due to the nature of this role, an enhanced DBS will be carried out for the successful applicant. You will also have a team of three cleaners who will clean and support the site with the daily cleaning duties including the deep cleaning closure during the summer period.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To supervise the cleaners and uphold cleaning standards across the site ( you will also cover any absences which is paid extra from your duties )
  • Be responsible for unlocking school premises during school hours and deactivating security alarm systems as required.
  • Undertake and record regular checks on play equipment, legionella risk, alarm systems, ladders, and fire extinguishers using on-site Maintenance Record Books and report any problems arising.
  • Identify and report building, furniture, or fitting deficiencies to the Head Teacher and undertake any remedial action. This may involve reporting emergency repairs.
  • a range of handyperson duties (ie those not requiring a qualified craftsperson) as directed by the Head Teacher, that contribute to the maintenance of the school premises (eg remedial works, repairs to fittings and small-scale improvements, repairs to taps and cisterns, fitting shelves/ notice boards, etc).
  • Liaise with contractors when they carry out repairs / maintenance on the school premises.
  • Take meter readings, including Gas and Electrical if required.
  • Be responsible for general tidiness and safety of outside areas.· Keep drains clear of obstructions.
  • Always ensure safe pedestrian access, including keeping paths and entrances clear of leaves and moss, as well as gritting and snow clearing during severe weather.
  • Maintain, if required, tubs and planters around the school. There is some gardening to do on the school grounds when required.
  • Maintain staff and pupil toilet facilities ensuring they are in working order. Deal with blocked toilets and blocked drains.
  • Set out/put away furniture for school events/breakfast clubs etc and undertake general porterage as required by the Head Teacher.
  • To carry out any other reasonable activities as requested by the Head Teacher.
